CHARTER TOWNSHIP OF AUSABLE Regular Board Meeting September 19, 2011 “approved” CALL TO ORDER: Meeting was called to order by Kevin Beliveau, Supervisor at 5:04 pm ROLL CALL: Present: Matthew Gary, Alanda Barnes, Mary Jo Samotis, Kevin Beliveau, Kelly Graham, Jan Baldwin, and Yvette Ramsdell Absent: Staff Present: Mark Ritter, Superintendent, Susie Olpere, Recording Secretary Press Coverage: Karen Rouse Pledge of Allegiance recited. MEETING AGENDA: Motion was made by Baldwin to approve meeting agenda as noted for Sept. 19, 2011, second by Barnes. Unanimous – All in Favor Motion Carried. PUBLIC COMMENTS on Agenda Items: Martin Gayeski and Tom Flores were in attendance to represent the Men’s Softball League. The members of this league have been making improvements to McCuaig Park since June. Next year’s focus will be repair of sprinkling system and use of the concession stand. They expressed their dedication to improving the park for everyone’s enjoyment. Approval of Consent Agenda: Motion was made by Alanda Barnes to approve consent agenda, second by Kelly Graham. Unanimous - by roll call vote Motion Carried. PRESENTATIONS: A) Treasurer – None B) Clerk – Expense/Revenue Report, Balance Sheet C) Superintendent – Letter drafted for approval regarding a resident’s request to have street light restored for security purpose. Letter of regret was accepted. Public Hearing: None OLD BUSINESS: A) Revised Purchase Agreement for McCuaig Park – In review of the Purchase Agreement and Quit Claim Deed for the acquisition of McCuaig Park, there was a discrepancy in the description of the property which differed from Bill Wood’s survey. Waiting for a reply from the Oscoda Township. B) Consideration of Tractor Bids – After review of bids submitted, Beliveau made the motion to purchase a tractor and implements from Willard’s Equipment (as indicated on estimate) including the fork lift attachment for $21,500. Second by Ramsdell. Unanimous – by roll call vote Motion Carried. C) Follow up on Election Worker Wages - Ms. Graham compiled wage compensation for elections workers in the surrounding areas. Ms. Graham made the motion to increase our election worker wages to $8.50 per hr. and $9.50 for the chairpersons. Second by Samotis. Unanimous – by roll call vote. Motion Carried. D) Discussion on Dumpster Days – Sunrise Disposal said that they would be able to accommodate us for October and November. The board consensus was to continue with their services. NEW BUSINESS: A) Consider approval of Miss Dig Agreement – Motion was made by Mrs. Samotis to enter into the Miss Dig Public Agency Agreement and pay their prescribed annual fee according to Exhibit 2. Second by Barnes. Unanimous – by roll call vote. Motion Carried. B) Vacancy on Building Authority – Topic was tabled to give board time to come up with recommendations for the vacancy or possibly putting ad in local paper. C) Joint Resolution with Iosco County regarding FEMA Flood Insurance - Mrs. Baldwin made a motion to pass the Community Resolution and Intergovernmental Agreement to Manage Floodplain Development for the National Flood Insurance Program. Second by Barnes. Unanimous – by roll call vote. Motion Carried. D) Consider Formal Appointment of Bob Rae to ZBA - To fill a vacancy from May 2, 2011 for a term of 3 yrs. Motion was made by Mrs. Barnes to appoint Bob Rae to the Zoning Board of Appeals. Second by Baldwin. Unanimous – by roll call vote. Motion Carried. E) United Way request for Solicitation within the Township - Ms. Graham made the motion to give permission to United Way to solicit funds for the month of October 2011 as an annual event. Unanimous – All in Favor Motion Carried. BOARD COMMENTS: None PUBLIC COMMENTS: Belle Flora wanted to reconfirm that the board’s intent was to acquire McCuaig Park. Members from the board assured her that this was only lagging because of documentation errors. ADJOURNMENT: Motion to adjourn made by Baldwin, second by Graham. Unanimous – All in Favor Motion Carried.
