09-29-2004 Special Meeting & Public Hearing Charter Township of AuSable Meeting called to order at 7:00 P.M. by Supervisor Lamrock. PRESENT: Lamrock, Schweickert, Kopko, Barnes, Beliveau, Poland and Gary. ABSENT: None. PRESS COVERAGE: Holly Nelson. Pledge of Allegiance recited. Motion by Gary, seconded by Beliveau to move the Truth in Taxation Hearing after the 2005 Budget and proceed to the Superintendent deliberations. All in favor, motion carried. Motion by Lamrock, seconded by Kopko to suspend the regular meeting and open the public hearing. Roll call, all yes, motion carried. Motion by Gary, seconded by Barnes to suspend the public hearing and open the regular meeting. Roll call, all yes, motion carried, Motion by Gary, seconded by Beliveau to accept the results from the first poll which makes Sandra Wilson ranking #1 candidate for Superintendent. Roll call: Beliveau, Gary and Poland YES; Lamrock, Schweickert, Barnes and Kopko NO; motion defeated. Motion by Gary, seconded by Poland to accept the results of the second poll and make the offer to Sandra Wilson for Superintendent. Roll call: Kopko and Schweickert NO; Lamrock, Beliveau, Poland, Barnes and Gary YES; motion carried. Discussion and additions were made to the budget. TRUTH IN TAXATION HEARING: Motion by Lamrock, seconded by Poland to reopen the Truth in Taxation hearing. Roll call, all yes, motion carried. Everyone was given ample time for a question/answer period. 2. Motion by Lamrock, seconded by Beliveau to close the public hearing on Truth in Taxation and open the regular meeting. Roll call, all yes, motion carried. Motion by Lamrock, seconded the Kopko that we levy 4.6678 mills on general operating and 1.2 mills on fire for 2005. Lamrock with drew his motion and Gary made a substitute motion. Motion by Gary, seconded by Beliveau to take the Headlee rollback on general operating and accept 1.2 on fire. Roll call: Gary and Beliveau YES; Lamrock, Schweickert, Poland, Barnes and Kopko NO; motion defeated. Lamrock restated his motion, and Schweickert seconded to levy 4.6678 mills for general operating and 1.2 mills for the fire for 2005. Roll call, Gary and Beliveau NO; Barnes, Kopko, Schweickert, Poland and Lamrock YES; motion carried. BOARD COMMENTS: None. PUBLIC COMMENTS: Larry Baldwin questioned whether the Superintendent would be making policy but was told that he or she would make recommendations to the board and the board would make the policy.
