08/18/03 Regular Meeting Charter Township of AuSable Meeting called to order at 7:00 P.M. by Supervisor Lamrock. PRESENT: Lamrock, Schweickert, Kopko, Poland, Gary. ABSENT: Barnes and Beliveau. PRESS COVERAGE: Holly Nelson. Pledge of Allegiance recited. MEETING AGENDA: Motion by Gary, seconded by Poland to approve the meeting agenda with the addition of Parks and Recreation request placed under sidewalk bids. All in favor, motion carried. PUBLIC COMMENTS: Larry Baldwin questioned whether the Public Works Committee was meeting on Aug. 25th. Was told we would address that under Meeting Changes. Another gentleman questioned whether Channel 3 was for governmental use. CONSENT AGENDA: Motion by Kopko, seconded by Schweickert to approve the Twp. Minutes of 08/04/03; receive the Parks and Rec. Minutes of 06/04/03 & 06/09/03, July Police Report, July Water & Sewer Report, July Zoning Report; authorize payment of General, Water and Sewer bills with payment of $3,500.00 for flag pole kit replacement removed from General Fund. Roll call, all yes, motion carried. UNFINISHED BUSINESS ( *-nothing new to report ) HOUSING STANDARDS/PROPERTY MAINTENANCE * ROAD POLICY * CHAMBER REQUEST * RETURNED PROPERTY * SEWER-IPP ORDINANCE * 2. NEW BUSINESS MEETING CHANGES: The September 1st meeting has been changed to September 2nd due to the Labor Day holiday. The Public Works meeting has been changed from Monday, August 25th, to Wednesday, August 27th. BUDGET WORKSHOP: Motion by Kopko, seconded by Gary to hold a budget workshop meeting on September 8th, at 6:00 P.M. All in favor, motion carried. TRUTH IN TAXATION HEARING: Motion by Gary, seconded by Poland to hold a Truth in Taxation Hearing September 2nd at the Township Hall, and advertise that for 7:15 P. M. to seek the additional inflation captures on the Hedley Amendment of .0789 mills for general fund, and also raise the fire mills an additional .15 Mills to a total of .65 mills. Roll call, all yes, motion carried. SIDEWALK BIDS: Two bids were received. One from Hunt Bros. Poured Walls, Inc. and one from B & B General Contracting, Inc. Motion by Gary, seconded by Kopko to accept the bid of $12,983.40 from Hunt Bros. Poured Walls, Inc. Roll call, all yes, motion carried. PARKS AND RECREATION REQUEST: The committee met last week and asked Matt Gary to request $1,500.00 be authorized for some drawings to be made of Finish Line Park. Supervisor Lamrock said the plan is to seek a development grant in the spring. He will call the DNR and report back at the next meeting. STING: No action taken. OSCODA TWP. FIRE DEPT. - CHILDREN'S FIRE SAFETY: Motion by Schweickert, seconded by Gary to sponsor 64 children in the amount of $125.00 for the Oscoda Township Fire Department. Roll call, all yes, motion carried. BOARD COMMENTS: Gary asked if Supervisor Lamrock is going to call Beckett & Raeder as well as the DNR for the Parks & Recreation request. Supervisor said yes he would. Supervisor: Met with Cathy Logan today and they were tieing up the loose ends of the grant. Children's Park looks good and he's getting a lot of positive compliments on that. Also he's getting a lot of compliments on the curbing, Old US 23, and the Bike Path. 3. Jay Wells retired from the Fire Department after 28 years and he will probably buy him something in recognition for his services. Poland: Questioned the Sting letter. Supervisor Lamrock said he will call on this matter and report back at the next meeting. PUBLIC COMMENTS: Larry Baldwin says his only comment is to compliment Supervisor Lamrock's comments on how nice everything looks.
