06/22/2000 Public Hearing Charter Township of AuSable Public hearing was called to order at 7:00 P.M. by Clerk Schweickert. PRESENT: Burley, Beliveau, Gary, Wassmann, Kopko and Schweickert. ABSENT: Lamrock. OTHER PRESENT: Kathy Whitford Kathie Logan Marcia Hopcroft Clyde Soucie Bob Boschma Ron Gaskell Jill Borwn Walter Sullivan Stella Sullivan PRESS COVERAGE: Holly Nelson. Clerk Schweickert explained that this hearing was called to discuss the Neighborhood Preservation Program and she turned the meeting over to Kathy Whitford. Kathy Whitford explained page by page, the draft of the AuSable Township Neighborhood Preservation Program, as prepared by the Northeast Michigan Community Service Agency, Inc., including the AuSable Township Neighborhood Preservation Resolution. She also explained that the County allotment for the CDBG was $300,000.00 for a two-year period and that was for all of the Townships. This program is offering AuSable Township $500,000.00, which is a lot of money to be used for many wonderful improvements to our parks, sidewalks, and the rehabilitation for housing. Marcia Hopcroft pointed out that after this two-year period when we spend this money, if this becomes available again, we are now the ground floor to get a second two-year $500,000.00 grant. This public hearing was advertised in the Oscoda Press and posted on the door of the AuSable Township Hall, 311 Fifth Street. RESOLUTION (AuSable Township Neighborhood Preservation Program): Motion by Schweickert, seconded by Beliveau to approve the draft and adopt the AuSable Township Neighborhood Preservation Program Resolution, and authorize Iosco County to prepare and submit the application for funding through the Michigan State Housing Development Authority's Housing Resource Fund. Roll call, all yes, motion carried. A copy of the resolution and draft is on file in the Clerk's office. Notice of this special meeting was posted more than 18 hours in advance, on the door of the AuSable Township Hall, 311 Fifth Street. ADJOURN: Motion by Burley, seconded by Gary to adjourn, 8:26 P.M. Of AuSable Township RESOLUTION AUSABLE TOWNSHIP NEIGHBORHOOD PRESERVATION PROGRAM WHEREAS, AuSable Township is interested in the continuing effort, to provide affordable housing opportunities for it's low and very low income residents; and WHEREAS, AuSable Township Board has reviewed and understands the content of the application for funding, and WHEREAS, AuSable Township Board accepts the recommendation of the Neighborhood Preservation Program Planning Committee to apply for $500,000.00 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the AuSable Township Board authorizes Iosco County to prepare and submit the application for funding through the Michigan State Housing Development Authority's Housing Resource Fund.
