The Clerk's Office administers all elections in AuSable Charter Township and provides voter records for all elections. The polling location is open from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on election days.
Sample ballots for general elections are available at the Clerk's Office approximately 30 days prior to an election day.
No Reason Voting! With the passing of Proposal 3 in 2018, the State of Michigan has adopted "no reason" absentee voting. This means that there are no qualifying reasons anymore for voting by absentee. Anyone can vote by absentee ballot. If you would like to vote by absentee ballot, you can contact the Clerk's Office or visit the AuSable Charter Township Hall.
A written request for an absentee ballot must be received from the voter for each election. In some instances, one form can make application for an absentee ballot for both a Primary and General election to be held in the same year. No application for a ballot can be made online, since the voter's signature is required before a ballot can be issued. If you are unable to obtain the absentee ballot application form, you may request a ballot in any writtten form, which includes all of the following information:
1. Name of voter, which must be legible
2. Registered address of the voter requesting a ballot
3. Address of which the ballot shoud be mailed
4. Signture of the voter
General Absentee Voting Information
Deadlines for issuing absentee ballots are available in the election calendar. Absentee ballots are available to the Clerk's Office approximately 30 to 45 days prior to governmental elections. When requesting and receiving a ballot at the Clerk's Office, we cannot give you anyone else's ballot. If both a husband and wife need an absentee ballot, they must both sign a written request or both appear in person at the Clerk's Office.
AuSable Charter Township maintains a list of voters who have personally requested to automatically receive an absentee ballot application form. Application forms are automatically mailed to those on the list approximately 60 days prior to an election. The Township cannot automatically mail an absentee ballot to any voter; however, we are able to mail the application form used to request an absentee ballot. You can be added to this list by calling or e-mailing the Clerk's Office with your request.
